About Our Home

The Old School House is a vibrant residential care home that empowers adults with learning and physical disabilities to live fulfilling, meaningful lives. Through person-centred support, we celebrate each individual's strengths and promote independence.

Our aim is to create a warm friendly home with a family atmosphere and to preserve the quality of life and independence of our residents. The Old School House is registered with the Care Quality Commission.

We are situated in a quiet village which has access to lots of shops, pubs, takeaways, social clubs, churches, as well as a village community centre.

Care & Support

At Old School we have an experienced team dedicated to delivering a high standard of person-centred care, a local GP and nurse team who will carry out surgery or home visits and video calls, visiting optician, chiropodist, hairdresser, consultant psychiatrist who will carry out home or phone reviews, speech and language, occupational health, and district nurses.

Residents are encouraged to decorate and personalise their bedrooms so that our home feels like their home.

 

Facilities & Outdoor Spaces

We have a variety of facilities at Old School designed to enhance residents' quality of life and enjoyment. These include comfortable, homely lounges and dining rooms, spacious adapted bathrooms, lift access, and wheelchair-friendly accessibility throughout the home. Residents can also enjoy our patio area and have access to a minibus for outings and appointments.

We have a lovely, spacious rear garden with plenty of seating options, including benches and swing chairs. We also have flower beds and fresh crops. Our residents absolutely love our sensory cabin, which can be enjoyed all year round and offers a variety of snacks, coffees, sensory activities, and a jukebox for both fun and relaxation.

Activities

Our support staff tailor activities on a daily basis to meet the individual needs and preferences of our service users.

All service users and families are welcomed and encouraged to share their hobbies and interests to assist us to enhance person centred support and meaningful activity provision.

 

Food & Dining

All our food is fresh and sourced locally. All meals are cooked and offer a wide variety of choice and catering for different religious and specialised diets.

I take great pride in helping others and creating a positive environment where people feel valued, respected and supported to achieve a better quality of life. My commitment and dedication to the gym have taught me the importance of consistency, discipline, patience and setting goals, and I bring those same qualities  into my work. I believe that with the right support, encouragement and dedication, everyone has the potential to make progress and achieve their own personal goals.
