A Cruise around the World
We have been cruising around the world virtually enjoying the countries spending a virtual week there with the residents, whilst enjoying the food, wine and music from each holiday destination.
We decorate the home in the colours of the country with our activities coordinator going so far as to build a boat. The destinations were chosen from a list of places that residents had previously travelled to on holiday. So far we have enjoyed visiting Paris, France where residents enjoyed crepes and a selection of French cheeses not to mention the wine tasting, which had a huge effect on how well people slept that week!
Valencia in Spain where we enjoyed some flamenco dancing and paella, we have some Spanish staff who were able to provide authentic recipes and show us dances and costumes from the region, along with providing stories about how they were brought up in Spain.
Cagliari in Italy was our next stop where everyone enjoyed their own favourite Pizza topping and a variety of Italian deserts
Boston in America was a popular destination where we enjoyed homemade Boston beans with hot dogs and some burgers and fries along with some country music and a little line dancing.
Athens in Greece where we had moussaka and baklava and learnt a lot about the Greek history.
We have recently been to Ireland where we had Guinness chocolate cake and Scotland where we have just had Haggis all the meals have been lovingly created by our experienced kitchen team.
We are continuing to travel around the world on our virtual cruise with many more countries to visit and food and wine to sample as well as learning the history of the country along with listening to the memories of residents and staff about their journeys to these destinations.
