Headway Approved Provider

Headway Approved Provider

Matthews Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit is very proud to be part of the Approved Provider Scheme for Headway. Headway is the UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support and information.

Every two years Mathews has to go through a rigorous process from Headway that utilises standards developed to reflect the specific needs of people with Acquired Brian Injury. The process involves us signing off a statement of compliance against each required Headway standard and undergoing a robust on-site assessment, within an inspection system that involves unannounced interim reviews.

By being an approved provider by Headway it demonstrates our provision of appropriate specialist care for those with complex, physical and/or cognitive impairment due to Acquired Brian Injury. Part of the assessment process include ensuring that staff working on Matthews are aware of and responsive to issue associated with an Acquired Brian Injury, and that Matthews gives consideration to residents, their families and carers.

I joined Rushcliffe Care in 2002 as a Physiotherapist. Having completed my Physiotherapy degree as Cum Laude in the Philippines in 1998, I worked as a lecturer for undergraduate Physiotherapy students for 3 years while working clinically in various areas of Physiotherapy. My clinical practice was further enriched after completing Master of Science in Rehabilitation with Distinction at University of Nottingham in 2011. In my role as Lead Therapist, I'm an advocate of the benefits of a collaborative transdisciplinary team. A great team moment was achieving the ‘highly commended’ award in the 2019 National Accolades Award for the most effective approach to integrated new models of care.
